Pennsylvania Skill is committed to supporting causes that improve communities and quality of life for the Pennsylvania residents. In July and August 2021, we donated $$124,875.00 to organizations throughout the state. With an emphasis and need to support our first responders and veterans we are proud to make donations to nonprofits to those who put others before their own safety.
Point Township Fire Company recently received a $5,000 donation from Pennsylvania Skill Charitable Giving. The donation was used to purchase and install a light tower on the company’s Air Truck which provides the capability to recharge air cylinders on site during an emergency. The new light tower is equipped with LED lights to provide the brightest illumination and has a street light feature to allow the tower to learn over the side of the vehicle to illuminate embankments. The bottom two lights also will be able to rotate to provide lighting right around the vehicle to enhance safety. Point Township Fire Company provides quality fire, rescue, and emergency medical services to Point Township, Northumberland, Sunbury, and Northumberland and Snyder Counties. The Point Township Fire Company is a volunteer organization with 25 active fire fighters and responds to an average of 450 fire and EMS calls per year.
Muncy Valley Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 received a $5,000 donation from Pennsylvania Skill Charitable Giving. The donation will be used to help with vehicle stabilization for safety and access to patients in a vehicle accident. The Muncy Valley VFC is a volunteer based fire and EMS organization that provides services to those in need due to fire, accidents, and medical issues in eastern Lycoming County and lower Sullivan County.
The City of Duquesne Volunteer Fire Department received a $8,000 donation to purchase a thermal imaging camera and a forcible entry tool to enter buildings. The fire department provides fire protection services to low-income communities in Duquesne, McKeesport, West Mifflin, Dravosburg, Homestead, Glassport, Versailles, and North Versailles.
New Cumberland River Rescue No. 1 received a $5,900 donation from Pennsylvania Skill Charitable Giving. New Cumberland River Rescue team is comprised of volunteers and provides water rescue, safety training, and community service in Central Pennsylvania and supports all water related emergencies in Cumberland, York, and Dauphin counties. They also support fire emergencies with rehab and traffic units. The donation will be used to purchase 24”x18” detour signs with multipositional arrow plaque, roll up flagger signs, roll up right lane closed ahead signs, center and left lane closed ahead signs, strands for roll up signs, stop and slow paddles, 7 lb. traffic cones, and 20 folding type II barricades. James Gormish, Board Member, accepts a $3,500 donation on behalf of The Spangler Fire Company from Pennsylvania Skill Charitable Giving in front of the company’s 1954 antique fire truck. The donation will be used to complete repairs on the 1999 tower and ladder apparatus that needs hydraulic work. The Spangler Fire Company provides fire, rescue and EMS services, fire education training, and fire and safety inspections to Cambria, Clearfield, and Indiana counties.
Western Pennsylvania Folds of Honor received a $10,000 donation from Pennsylvania Skill Charitable Giving. The donation will be used to provide educational scholarships for military families that in Western Pennsylvania. The organization aims to provide scholarships for the spouses and children of America’s service members who have fallen and/or were disabled during active duty while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Donations are distributed among Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Bedford, Blair, Butler, Cambria, Cameron, Clarion, Clearfield, Clinton, Crawford, Elk, Erie, Fayette, Forest, Franklin, Fulton, Greene, Huntingdon, Indiana, Jefferson, Lawrence, McKean, Mercer, Potter, Somerset, Venango, Warren, Washington, and Westmoreland counties.
