To kick off the new year, Pennsylvania Skill Charitable Giving donated $80,050.97 to First Responders, Veterans, Women and Children Services, Health and Human Services, and Community Organizations. January’s donations will have a positive impact in Adams, Allegheny, Berks, Clinton, Columbia, Cumberland, Dauphin, Indiana, Lancaster, Luzerne, Lycoming, Montgomery, Philadelphia, and Union counties.
Citizens Hose Company No. 5, of Lock Haven, received a $3321.97 donation to purchase medical supplies like an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED), Suction Unit, Blood Pressure Kit, Stethoscope, Pulse Oximeter, and Medical Bag to replace outdated equipment. The donation will allow the volunteer fire company to better manage medical emergencies and accidents. Citizens Hose Company No. 5 is a volunteer fire company and provides Fire, Rescue, and EMS services to Lock Haven and surrounding communities. Greater Lycoming Habitat for Humanity received a $5,000 for the Home Preservation Program. The program allows Habitat to help more families, revitalize the condition and appearance of neighborhoods, strengthen connections within the community and help preserve affordable homeownership where it exists while alleviating critical health and safety concerts. The Home Preservation Program also emphasizes the principles that underline Habitat’s mission through working together, forming diverse and new partnerships, sharing resources, and celebrating. Irishtown Fire Company received a $4,374 donation to purchase two new hose appliances and 25 flashlights to replace out-of-date equipment that is expensive to maintain. The Irishtown Fire Company provides quality emergency services, fire prevention, and education to residents and visitors of New Oxford and Adams County. Make-A-Wish, of Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia, received a $4,400 donation from Pennsylvania Skill Charitable Giving. With donations such as this, Make-A-Wish can bring hope to children living with critical illnesses. Caden made a wish to travel with his family to the Super Bowl. Caden’s smile radiates how happy he was to attend the Super Bowl and meet his favorite player, Rob Gronkowski.
Marion Center Volunteer Fire Department received a $10,000 donation from Pennsylvania Skill Charitable Giving. The Marion Center Fire Department covers 66-square miles which is the largest service area in Indiana County. The donation will help the fire department replace their 2001 utility vehicle that was near the end of its service life with a newer and safer model. Rice Township Police Department received a $3,500 donation from Pennsylvania Skill Charitable Giving to purchase TC600s, solar radar speed enforcement signs to deter speeding on township roadways. The police department provides services to Rice Township and Nuangola Borough in Luzerne County. Seville Volunteer Fire Company, of Pittsburgh, received a $6,980 donation from Pennsylvania Skill Charitable Giving. The donation will be used to upgrade outdated lighting to LED energy saving lighting for the fire station. The fire company provides 24/7 fire protection for residents and numerous mutual aid towns around Pittsburgh in Allegheny. The fire department is 100% volunteer based and raises funds through nonprofit fundraising efforts and at their social club, the Seville Club. The Seville Club operate four Pennsylvania Skill games and works with City Coin Machines. The Skip Program, of Millersburg, accepted a $5,000 donation from Pennsylvania Skill Charitable Giving. The donation will benefit the Poverty Alleviation and Hunger Relief Program distribution efforts and provides services in Dauphin, Northumberland, Lebanon, Lancaster, York, Cumberland, and Perry counties. The Poverty Alleviation Program provides necessities, food, and pet food to individuals and families in need. It seems to alleviate poverty and help individuals gain and maintain financial stability and to break the cycle of poverty.
Mae-Ling Kranz, CEO of Transitions of PA, accepts a $5,000 donation from Anthony Kovelski, of Pennsylvania Skill Charitable Giving. Transitions of PA has been on a mission to end patterns of violence and abuse through advocacy, empowerment, and education to victims, survivors, and families for more than 45 years. The donation will be used provide safe, confidential, and free services to victims and survivors at no cost to them or their families in Lewisburg and Union County.
The West End Baseball Association, also known as West End Babe Ruth, received a $5,000 donation from Pennsylvania Skill Charitable Giving to purchase a new score board. The organization provides organized baseball programs for 150 players ages 13 to 18 in Lycoming County.
